Once again Karl Lagerfeld has truly out done hiself.This season's CHANEL collection is "Paris- Shanghai", in tribute to the late Coco Chanel's love and inspiration for the Asian culture.
During the Fashionista's life on earth, she never got a chance to visit Shanghai. Which is hard to believe, Chanel's signature quiltted fabric was taken from China? hmmm...
Lastweek on Dec.3rd 2009, Chanel opened their Shanghai boutique in the Pennisula Hotel....finally paying homage to the Asian culture that inspired their signature look.
There's even artwork by Jean-Michel Othonel, who created a GIANT replica, glass pearl necklace the resembled the late Coco Chanel. (Shanghai store pictured to the right)
Two years ago Chanel paid homage to London, and a year ago Moscow. Mr. Haute Fashion-Lagerfield, has even created a mini-movie based on Chanel's desire to visit Shanghai.
